Craftsmanship Overview
Did you know that the Porsche 928 is reportedly Porsche’s first fully in-house design for a production vehicle? Interestingly, this model was first developed as a potential replacement for the Porsche 911 as the company’s flagship model. The 928 was different from the 911 as it blended the performance and handling characteristics of a sports car while also offering the comfort, spaciousness, and ride quality of a luxury car. It was even described as a “Super Car” during the 1980s and this model saw 18 years of production starting from 1977.
Exterior and Interior
The timeless look of this 1988 Porsche 928 S4 is further enhanced with a stunning Guards Red exterior. Its headlights neatly fold backward, giving a streamlined profile without being completely encased like normal pop-up headlights. This Porsche rides on 16″ alloy wheels decorated with chrome Porsche hub caps. Wrapped around them are new Riken Raptor ZR A/S tires. Stopping power is taken care of by front and rear ventilated disc brakes and you also get a new ABS system as well. Our subject Porsche 928 features a rear “Weissach” multi-link suspension, which is a complex suspension system derived from motorsports. The front consists of a double wishbone suspension. Entering this 1988 Porsche 928 is like stepping into a time capsule as the Linen Grey color interior exudes design elements from yesteryear. The retro steering wheel features power-assisted rack & pinion steering. The center console slopes downwards and holds buttons, knobs, and sliding levers for your radio and A/C controls. It also includes a Continental retro Bluetooth stereo.

The transaxle was completely rebuilt just prior to the current owners acquisition at the cost of $7k. Powered by a 5.0-liter DOHC V8 paired with a four-speed rear mounted automatic transaxle, the car is equipped with 16″ forged aluminum chromed wheels with new tires, a sunroof, power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, a Retrosound bluetooth stereo, and front and rear air conditioning. This 928 S4 shows 136,004 miles and is offered with a Porsche Production Specifications sheet, extensive service records, owners manual, complete tool set, spare tire and a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name. All accessories, electronics and gauges function as designed and the car drives and shifts like it did fresh from the factory. Furthermore, all panels have the correct original matching VIN sticker. Sale of this car comes with a car cover, manual seat and sunroof tool, Porsche OEM driver’s side door seal, 3 keys and a clean FL title.
